Michael Chesal, a founding member of the Peretz Chesal & Herrmann, P.L., is Board Certified by The Florida Bar in intellectual property law. He is also a certified mediator in the Southern District of Florida and a Supreme Court certified Circuit Civil mediator. Michael’s practice is concentrated on the registration, protection and enforcement of trademarks and copyrights. He is one of only a handful of attorneys approved nationwide for participation in Amazon’s IP Accelerator Program, a program that helps Amazon sellers promote and protect their brands.
What have you gained from your involvement with the Section?
My experience with the Business Law Section has benefitted my professional development to an immeasurable degree. But most of all, the fellowship and camaraderie that I have experienced with other business lawyers and judges around the state could only have been possible through my active participation in the Section, and it’s something that I dare say no other professional organization can match or even come close to offering.
Which Committees/Task Forces have you serve on within the Section?
I have served on a host of Business Law Section committees over the years, including having served as Chair of the Intellectual Property Law Committee, the Legislation Committee, the Retreat and Sponsorship Committee, the CLE Committee, and of course Chair of the Section in 2018-19.
What is your favorite memory from your term as Chair?
The highlight of the year for every Chair is no doubt the Executive Council retreat, which took us to Israel during my term, for an unforgettable adventure around the country, from the modern city of Tel Aviv, to ATV riding in the Golan Heights, to the Old City of Jerusalem, and of course to the Israel Supreme Court and Knesset. What is something that will surprise our members to learn about you?
I suspect it may not actually come as a surprise, but for the last two years I have been serving on the Mobile Volunteer Patrol in Shark Valley at Everglades National Park. Come visit (and bring your bicycle). Let’s just say we not only preach about work-life balance. We live it.
