Chapter 48 Task Force (Service of Process)

During the 2022 legislative session, SB1062, which was developed in large part by the Business Law Section, passed the legislature and was signed by the Governor. This legislation makes significant changes to the procedures and methods for service of process for actions pending in Florida state courts, particularly, but not exclusively, regarding service of process on business entities. It becomes effective in major part as of January 2, 2023. All practitioners who litigate in state courts should review this new legislation, a copy of which is attached. Also attached are flow charts that illustrate the new methods and procedures for service of process on various types of business entities.
