2018-2019 IP Committee Activities
- The IP Committee proposed legislation to update the Florida Trademark Statute, Chapter 495, which had not been updated in 13 years. The IP Committee’s efforts included meeting and being available to Florida legislatures to respond to questions about this legislation. The legislation is pending the governor’s signature.
- Prepared white paper that assisted in defeating proposed changes to Florida’s trade secret statutes and proposed amendments for inclusion in future legislation.
- Initiated task force to develop material to assist in preparing for the Florida Bar IP Certification exam.
- Participation in the newly created BLS 542.335 Task Force in support of amendments during the 2020 Florida legislative session.
Successful enactment of revisions to the Florida Patent Troll Prevention Act
Prepared white paper that assisted in defeating proposed changes to Florida’s franchise statutes.
