Judicial Spotlight: Judge Walsh

Judges fill an integral role on our Executive Council. Meet one of them, Judge Walsh.

Judge Lisa Walsh was appointed to the Circuit Court for the 11th Judicial Circuit in Miami-Dade County, Florida in 2011. She currently is assigned to the Complex Business Litigation and the International Commercial Arbitration divisions. Before becoming a judge, Judge Walsh was a trial and appellate lawyer for sixteen years. As a judge, she has tried approximately 200 jury trials. Judge Walsh has authored 80 published appellate decisions, including decisions she wrote sitting by designation on the Fourth District Court of Appeal of Florida.

What have you gained from your involvement with the Section?

I have learned from the opportunity to present jointly on substantive areas of law. Furthermore, the section provides a critical opportunity to liaise with stakeholders on the management and administration of a Complex Business Law court.

Which Committees/Task Forces have you serve on within the Section?

I serve as a judicial liaison

What is your favorite memory from your time as Judicial Chair?

I have enjoyed presenting education seminars. In November 2024, I presented a webinar on the amendments to the civil rules. I also enjoyed presenting with my colleagues at the judicial roundtables in 2021, 2023, 2024, and will again this coming Labor Day retreat.

What is something that will surprise our members to learn about you?

There is nothing terribly surprising about me. I have no secret skills, no obscure passions, no heightened abilities. Should there ever be a Zombie Apocalypse, my particular skills will not be valuable to your team.
