Below is a fabulous pro bono opportunity for a volunteer attorney to join a drafting group and assist with drafting a Youth Compensation Legal Guide. The pro bono request is to assist with the chapters on (1) business law and (2) contracts. The attorney does not need to know about youth homelessness; rather, they’re looking for a business law/contracts attorney who can bring that knowledge to the table.
The Commission on Homelessness and Poverty is collaborating with the National Homelessness Law Center on a toolkit around legal issues that relate to compensation for young people (with lived experience of homelessness) who contract or otherwise work with organizations committed to preventing and ending youth homelessness. This includes youth being paid to serve on youth action boards, as consultants or co-authors on projects, or as presenters or facilitators at conferences, etc. They’re looking to keep the toolkit at an eighth grade reading level.
