What has been your best experience from your time as a Fellow?
My best experience has been attending the Annual Labor Day Retreat each summer and presenting a CLE on emerging data privacy issues in Florida. The Retreat fostered meaningful connections with Fellows and practitioners, while presenting allowed me to engage with a unique practice area that is both complex and rapidly evolving.
Why did you apply to the Business Law Section’s Fellowship Program?
I applied to the Fellowship Program because I wanted to take on a more active role within the Section and challenge myself in a different way. As a younger attorney, I was also looking for a way to become meaningfully involved beyond solely attending events. The Fellowship provides a great opportunity to actively participate, contribute, and step into leadership roles early on. It offered a path to not only engage with the Section, but to help shape it, which was important to me.
What’s the best piece of advice you have received?
The best piece of advice I have received is to become comfortable with being uncomfortable. To me, it means intentionally leaning into unfamiliar experiences rather than waiting to feel fully prepared.
What is your favorite BLS subcommittee and why?
My favorite subcommittee is the Computer Law and Technology Committee, where I serve as Vice Chair. I’m drawn to the ever evolving issues and the collaborative nature of the Committee. Serving in a leadership role has allowed me to be more actively involved alongside practitioners shaping this exciting field.
