The Business Law Section is pleased to recognize Mark Wolfson as the recipient of the 2026 Business Law Section Pro Bono Award. The award honors attorneys who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to pro bono service and to expanding access to justice for those in need.
Mark, a partner with Foley & Lardner LLP and a past Chair of the Business Law Section, has devoted decades to serving both the legal profession and the community. Through Bay Area Legal Services alone, he has contributed more than 838 hours of pro bono service and handled approximately 50 pro bono matters. His work has included representing individuals and families in guardian advocacy matters, helping parents obtain the legal authority necessary to care for their disabled adult children.
One aspect of Mark’s service particularly stood out during the award selection process. After learning that guardian advocacy cases were often difficult to place because too few attorneys were willing to take them, Mark volunteered to accept every guardian advocacy case then on the referral list. He has continued to handle these matters on a regular basis ever since. His commitment has provided meaningful assistance to countless families navigating complex legal and personal challenges.
In addition to his direct representation of clients, Mark has encouraged pro bono participation throughout the profession. As Pro Bono Chair of Foley’s Tampa office, he has mentored attorneys and helped foster a culture of service within his firm. His approach to pro bono work is perhaps best reflected in his own words: “That’s how every lawyer should treat a pro bono client. No different from their million-dollar client. The same empathy, the same respect, and the same consideration.”
The Business Law Section congratulates Mark on this well-deserved recognition and thanks him for his extraordinary dedication to pro bono service.
