What was your most memorable experience as a Fellow?
My most memorable experience was meeting and meeting the other Fellows and Section members. They’re not just impressive professionals but also great people.
Did you have a mentor or leader that encouraged you to get more
involved or otherwise motivated you to stay involved in BLS?
Yes. I’m fortunate to work with Leyza Blanco, a former Section Chair, who introduced me to the Section, encouraged me to get involved, and supported me along the way.
As a Fellow or in the years that followed, have you assisted with
legislation or a task force? What was your experience?
Yes, early on, I assisted with reviewing and preparing a white paper in connection with a proposed new statute to change existing Florida law relating to individuals’ joint ownership of personal property. I also assisted with a Task Force that reviewed the effect of an 11th Circuit decision on the interpretation of an “assignee” under Florida’s version of Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code, which led to the publication of an article published by the Florida Bar.
